‘Invest in Photonics’
World’s first photonics convention

Expected to be the world’s photonics capital, Bordeaux (France) is hosting the first international photonics partnership convention titled ‘Invest in Photonics’ from 11-12 December 2008. With an objective to seize a comprehensive perspective in this fast developing sector, 150 industry experts from all over the world will attend the remarkable event. The international meeting will facilitate development of various SMEs, investors and industrialists looking forward to seek funding opportunities.

In collaboration with CNOP (National Optics and Photonics Committee), EPIC (European Photonic Industry Consortium) and Finance & Technology, the two-day meeting will be organised by Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CEA (French Atomic Energy Commission) and ALPhA Route des Lasers. Other photonics networking players from all over Europe will also take part as co-organisers of the event.

Over the years, the photonics market has been profoundly changing with significant growth rate. With an estimation of US$ 800 billion, the industry has been progressing at 7 per cent annual growth rate. Application of photonics in day-today activities expand to flat screen technology, mobile phones, etc. Being one of the most promising 21st century technologies, photonics technology has been emerging as strategic future expansion.

The forthcoming ‘Invest in Photonics’ convention will unfold all fundamental outlooks of business, market and innovation of the technology. All SMEs attending the convention will be entertained with one-to-one appointment where contacts will be made, projects will be studied, and sideline international meetings organised during the ‘business session’.

‘Market time’ programme will guide a chance to find out current market trend, through conferences and round tables bringing together the best company experts. During the ‘innovation time’ session, experts will conduct several meetings as well as presentations of knowhow through photonics-related technological workshops and company on-site visits.

Harrods retail outlet wears new digitised look

Apart from being a home to the world’s leading luxury fashion brands, Harrods’ latest retail outlet opened in March this year at Heathrow Terminal 5, London did get a new digitised look.
