LCD market demand on rise in UAE
With the score of the company’s sales touching Dh 980 (US$ 267 million) in 2007, the UAE-based consumer electronics retailer Eros Group has registered annual growth rate of 45 per cent in the UAE market, stated Deepak Bebani, chief of Eros Group. In addition to Tanzania and Kenya in East Africa, the company has expanded its market in Oman, Qatar and Bahrain in the Gulf region.
According to Bebani, the company’s major growth engines have been home appliances and LCD TVs. He also claimed that the market demand for LCDs for 2008 has been 240,000, but that could easily increase up to 280,000 to 300,000.
Meanwhile, Eros Group and Hitachi have recently unveiled the world’s first Ultra-Thin LCD TV series. Hitachi has re-engineered the flat screen from the inside out to deliver the radically sleek UT Series, a new generation of ultra-thin LCD panels.
