IAB releases Digital Video In-Stream Ad Format Guidelines

Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), New York has announced the release of Digital Video In-Stream Ad Format Guidelines. Compiled by the bureau’s Digital Video Committee comprising 145 leading interactive companies, the guidelines focus on most widely used current in-stream ad products including linear video ads, non-linear video ads and companion ads. Main objectives of the guidelines are i) to simplify digital video ad buying across multiple sites through minimum common ad specification for video, overlay and campaign ads; ii) to achieve more efficient operation through a common set of creative submission guidelines; iii) to increase consumer understanding of ad interaction and environment through best practice recommendations for creative development and player environment.

The document is part of IAB’s ongoing effort to improve marketplace understanding of the role of digital media in marketing and media ecosystem. “The interest surrounding digital video is no surprise,” said Randall Rothenberg, president and CEO of IAB. He further said that consumers have been motivated to embrace digital video experience online, and marketers have incorporated it just as rapidly into their advertising plans. “With the creation and adoption of these formats and guidelines, we see no end in sight to its potential for growth,” he added.
