Future Media introduces gesture-recognition tech

Future Media announces the launch of interactive display GestureTek, which is positioned at show windows in big malls all over India. This is first time in India that this technology has been deployed simultaneously at ten different locations viz. Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. However, the network is centrally controlled from Mumbai. Based on gesture recognition technology with camera capturing movements of any customer at malls, this technology is new boost for advertisers wishing to enhance interactivity with target audience.

Speaking about the introduction, V G Jaishanker, business director–Visual Media, Future Media (I) Ltd explained that the new technology is becoming increasingly important if one has to grab and engage the consumer’s roving eyes. “However, innovative displays like GestureTek not only help grab consumers’ eyeballs but also engage them in a more creative way than normal static media. This innovative technology was high on our agenda and we are looking forward to launch more in future,” he added.

Hindustan Unilever is one of the early adopters of this technology for its brand Sunsilk with a catchy slogan ‘Life Can’t Wait’. Remarkably the brand has put up 7-8 visuals that keep changing every time when the camera tracks the movements of visitors.
